Kraft Heinz is taking significant steps to rejuvenate its Philadelphia cream cheese brand by introducing three new flavors: Mike's Hot Honey whipped cream cheese, salted caramel, and a seasonal cranberry orange.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy to invest $700 million into its legacy brands, aiming to create excitement in the cream cheese category, which Philadelphia dominates with a 62% market share in the U.S.
The company plans to launch a total of 10 new varieties over the next two years, reflecting a substantial increase in investment, particularly in research and development, which is expected to rise by 63% this year compared to 2025.
Despite a 2% decline in Kraft Heinz's shares since the announcement of pausing its split into two companies, the management believes that these new flavors and marketing strategies will help drive sales and reinvigorate consumer interest.
The brand is also focusing on expanding its appeal by promoting cream cheese for various culinary uses beyond traditional spreads, leveraging social media influencers and recipe websites to reach a broader audience. This renewed focus comes after years of declining sales and underinvestment in key brands, which Kraft Heinz is now addressing as part of its turnaround efforts
