Verizon Experiences Widespread Mobile Service Outage Affecting Thousands of Customers in Major U.S. Cities

On Saturday afternoon, Verizon's mobile service went down for several thousand customers, with the outage starting around 3:30 p.m. ET. Downdetector reported over 13,000 complaints at the peak of the incident, primarily from users in major metropolitan areas such as New York, Los Angeles, and Boston.

In a statement to CNBC, Verizon acknowledged the issue, stating that they were making progress in addressing the problem impacting voice services for some wireless customers. They advised affected users to restart their devices, but did not disclose the cause of the outage.

Additionally, the disruption also affected customers from other carriers, including AT&T and T-Mobile US, who were unable to make calls due to the outage.
