Allison and Stephen Ellsworth, after successfully disrupting the soda market with Poppi, are now focusing on the hydration sector with their new brand, Jetty. Jetty's products, including drinks and electrolyte packets, will be available at Whole Foods, Target, and Amazon starting Monday.

This self-funded venture directly competes with PepsiCo's Gatorade, which holds a dominant 60% market share in the U.S. sports drink category. Jetty aims to cater to consumers who need hydration without the high sugar and electrolyte content typical of traditional sports drinks.

Allison Ellsworth noted that many consumers, including those using GLP-1 medications that reduce thirst, struggle to stay hydrated, creating a market opportunity for Jetty. The hydration category has seen a 20% increase in dollar sales, reaching $2.6 billion, and is attracting numerous new entrants.

Jetty plans to differentiate itself with a focus on everyday hydration, appealing particularly to millennial moms and Gen Z consumers who are less engaged with legacy brands like Gatorade. Jetty's initial offerings will include five flavors, each containing a balanced mix of electrolytes, B vitamins, fiber, and minimal sugar, without artificial additives.

The Ellsworths believe their experience with Poppi will help Jetty succeed in a competitive landscape, where traditional sports drink sales are declining. They are also considering future funding options that prioritize strategic partnerships over traditional venture capital. Overall, Jetty's launch represents a strategic response to evolving consumer preferences in the beverage market
