The ADP survey, which included over 39,000 workers across 36 markets, highlights a significant disconnect between low unemployment rates and worker perceptions of job security. Only 22% of respondents felt secure in their positions, with the U.S. at 28% and the U.K. at 25%. This sentiment is particularly pronounced in Japan, where only 5% felt safe.

Furthermore, the report indicates that unpaid work is prevalent, with 62% of workers contributing up to five unpaid hours weekly, and 12% working 16 or more hours unpaid. This trend is notably higher among managers, with half of upper management reporting at least six unpaid hours.

While those using AI tools like ChatGPT report less stress and higher engagement, they paradoxically feel less productive. Daily AI users are four times more likely to feel they are underperforming compared to non-users. Overall, only 19% of workers were fully engaged in their jobs, with Brazil showing the highest engagement at 29% and China the lowest at 11%.

ADP suggests that employers can enhance engagement by investing in employee skills, building trust, and helping workers find purpose in their roles
