Rep. Robert Garcia, a California Democrat, has announced plans for extensive investigations into President Donald Trump and his allies following the Democrats' recent midterm victories, which have granted them control of the House Oversight Committee.
In a video message, Garcia emphasized the need for accountability, stating that the American public is weary of corruption linked to the Trump administration.
With the new Congress convening in January, Democrats will have subpoena power, enabling them to compel testimony and access documents related to potential corruption involving Trump's business activities, cryptocurrency ventures, and Pentagon contracts.
Garcia also indicated that the committee would investigate alleged abuses by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and connections to Jeffrey Epstein. His aggressive stance may contrast with advice suggesting a focus on corporate interests instead of Trump.
The White House has dismissed these investigations as politically motivated, indicating a likely contentious relationship between the Trump administration and the incoming Democratic majority
