Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, 53, was hospitalized after experiencing a small hemorrhagic stroke last weekend. He reported feeling unwell during his son's hockey game and sought medical attention, leading to a diagnosis of a small bleed in the thalamus region of his brain. Following his discharge, Murphy will spend several weeks in a rehabilitation center to ensure a full recovery.

Dr. Jose Suarez from The Johns Hopkins Hospital indicated that Murphy has shown significant progress and is expected to recover fully. During his recovery, Murphy will remain engaged with his team remotely, allowing his office to continue legislative work and serve constituents without interruption.

His absence from the Senate comes at a critical time, just after Democratic candidates achieved significant electoral victories that shifted control of both the Senate and House of Representatives from Republicans. Murphy had been actively campaigning for Democratic candidates prior to his stroke and was scheduled to participate in further campaign events shortly after his hospitalization
