Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley Lead AI Stock Trading Boom with $52 Billion Revenue

The five largest investment banks have reported approximately $67 billion in equities revenue through September 30, surpassing the previous record set in 2025 by $7 billion. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley have dominated this market, collectively earning nearly 80% of the total revenue.

The increase in trading activity is attributed to a booming stock market and heightened interest in artificial intelligence investments, with banks extending significant loans to hedge funds to amplify their trading positions. Goldman Sachs reported a 96% increase in equities financing activities in the third quarter, reaching a record $3.37 billion.

The competitive landscape has shifted, with the Big Three banks benefiting from their extensive prime brokerage services, which are essential for executing large trades. This has created a disparity between these banks and their rivals, such as Bank of America and Citigroup.

Additionally, the easing of capital regulations has allowed these banks to expand their balance sheets, further enhancing their trading capabilities. However, concerns remain regarding the risks associated with increased leverage among hedge funds, as highlighted by the International Monetary Fund.

Despite these risks, Wall Street executives express confidence in their ability to manage potential downturns, emphasizing the importance of collateral and stress testing. Overall, the current environment presents both opportunities and challenges for investors as the AI-driven market continues to evolve
