Boeing's CEO Kelly Ortberg indicated that the production of the 737 Max is taking longer than anticipated to stabilize, with the company currently producing about 47 units per month. This news contributed to a more than 5% drop in Boeing's stock during afternoon trading.
Ortberg noted that wing production at the Renton, Washington factory is a current bottleneck, but plans are in place to address this issue. He also mentioned that the certification of the Max 10, the largest variant of the 737 Max, is expected to occur 'very soon,' although it has faced significant delays.
Additionally, Ortberg did not provide expectations regarding aircraft orders from China, stating that announcements would come at the airlines' discretion, particularly in light of an upcoming meeting between President Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping on September 24
