The draft memorandum reported by Iranian state media outlines a potential agreement between the U.S. and Iran that includes the lifting of oil sanctions and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days. Key conditions for final negotiations include the release of half of Iran's frozen funds, the suspension of oil sanctions, and the withdrawal of American forces from Iran.

Additionally, the U.S. and its allies would need to present reconstruction plans for Iran valued at a minimum of $300 billion. President Donald Trump indicated that a settlement with Iran could be imminent, which has led to a surge in global stock markets and a decrease in oil prices, with U.S. crude futures falling by 1.61% and Brent futures dropping by 1.75%.

The Strait of Hormuz is critical, as it facilitates approximately 25% of the world's seaborne oil trade and 20% of global LNG, making any developments in this region particularly significant for investors and the energy sector
