On Wednesday, the Republican-controlled U.S. House voted 215 to 208 to approve a war powers resolution aimed at blocking President Trump's military engagement in Iran, with four Republicans joining Democrats in support.

This marks a significant moment as it reflects growing unease within Trump's own party regarding the three-month-old conflict, despite the slim Republican majorities in both chambers of Congress. The resolution is largely symbolic since it would require Senate approval and a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate to override a likely presidential veto.

The ongoing conflict has now entered its fourth month, and this vote follows three previous resolutions that failed by narrow margins. Additionally, the Senate had advanced a similar resolution last month after multiple unsuccessful attempts. The four Republicans who supported the resolution were Tom Barrett, Warren Davidson, Brian Fitzpatrick, and Thomas Massie.

This development comes as Trump faces increasing pushback from Congress, including a separate vote to advance security aid for Ukraine and new sanctions on Russia, indicating a shift in the legislative landscape.

Furthermore, criticism has emerged regarding Trump's appointment of Bill Pulte as acting Director of National Intelligence, highlighting concerns over his qualifications in national security
