West Pharmaceutical Services demonstrated significant growth in its third-quarter results, with adjusted earnings per share (EPS) rising 35.7% to $2.66 on sales of $874.5 million, surpassing analyst expectations of approximately $2.20 per share. The company has raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $9.38 to $9.48, up from $8.85 to $9.05.
While the GLP-1 market is contributing to this growth, West's performance is driven by a broader strategy. Notably, sales of proprietary products increased by 12.6% to $728.8 million, with high-value components growing 20.3%, now making up 53% of total sales.
CFO Robert McMahon noted that the growth in high-value products is not solely reliant on GLP-1 drugs, as the overall injectable market continues to expand. Additionally, West's profitability is improving faster than sales, with management expecting operating margins to increase by nearly 300 basis points this year.
The company is also maintaining disciplined capital spending, projected at $215 million to $220 million, aligning with its long-term revenue targets. Overall, West's strong performance and strategic focus on premium products position it well for sustained growth, reinforcing the investment case beyond just the GLP-1 segment
