Singapore Airlines Announces Over S$2 Billion Investment to Enhance Business and First-Class Experience

Singapore Airlines (SIA) is set to implement significant upgrades to its onboard offerings, including new premium cabin seats for long-haul flights, as part of a S$2 billion investment. The new features will debut on the Airbus A350 starting mid-2027, with first-class seats featuring 32-inch 4K screens and options for double beds and face-to-face dining.

Business class will see 22-inch 4K screens and enhanced connectivity options. These upgrades come amid delays in the delivery of Boeing 777-9 aircraft, which were originally expected in 2021 but are now not anticipated until 2027. SIA's Chief Commercial Officer, Lee Lik Hsin, noted that the decision to retrofit the A350 was influenced by these delays.

The airline has also been recognized as the World's Best Airline for 2026 by Skytrax, although it lost the Business and First Class categories to competitors. Additional enhancements include the introduction of Starlink internet on most Airbus aircraft by early 2027, new inflight dining experiences, and a S$130 million investment to renovate its Silverkris lounges.

These initiatives reflect SIA's commitment to providing a premium travel experience and adapting to market challenges
