Mobileye Global announced its intention to enter the robotaxi market, with an initial fleet of 100 vehicles set to launch in 2027. The company aims to expand this fleet to approximately 17,000 vehicles within five years. Following the announcement, Mobileye's shares increased by about 6%.
CEO Amnon Shashua emphasized the company's unique approach, leveraging its expertise in autonomous driving and existing industry partnerships. While this move positions Mobileye as a competitor to some of its current customers who utilize its Mobileye Drive technology, the company maintains that it will continue to support these customers.
