Binance is making a significant shift by opening its Capital Connect platform to wealthy individuals, requiring them to have at least $1 million in assets. This platform allows users to compare and invest in various professional strategies, which were previously only available to institutional investors.
Catherine Chen, head of Binance VIP and institutional, emphasized that this expansion is a direct response to demand from individual investors seeking access to sophisticated investment options.
The Capital Connect platform, which utilizes Binance's Portfolio Account infrastructure, simplifies the investment process by allowing users to allocate funds to strategies without the need for separate fund vehicles. As of September, Capital Connect has grown to include 212 portfolios from 77 professional trading teams, a notable increase from 106 portfolios and 35 teams in May.
Initially focused on cryptocurrency strategies, the platform is now incorporating traditional financial instruments, reflecting a broader trend where Binance is not only competing with traditional finance but also expanding its offerings in digital assets.
This strategic move could attract high-net-worth individuals looking for diverse investment opportunities, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape between cryptocurrency exchanges and traditional financial institutions
