Boeing Engineers and Technical Workers Approve New Contract, Preventing Strike Amid Production Challenges

10/01/2026, 01:37 PM business agreement Boeing

Boeing engineers and technical workers, represented by the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, approved a new contract that includes a 10% immediate wage increase and annual raises of 4%, with potential merit-based increases of up to 6%.

This decision, made with a 67.62% approval from the engineering unit and 53.48% from the technical unit, comes after the workers previously rejected an offer that included only 3% annual raises.

The approval of this contract is crucial for Boeing as it seeks to stabilize and ramp up production of its popular jets while also navigating federal approval processes for the delayed 737 Max 10 and 777X models. The Federal Aviation Administration is currently reviewing a software issue related to the 737 Max 10 that could impact landing procedures.

The avoidance of a strike is significant, especially considering a previous machinist strike that halted production, highlighting the importance of labor relations in Boeing's operational stability and growth
