Jio Platforms, backed by Meta and Google, opened with a 3.3% increase following its IPO, which was priced at a premium of over 25%. This strong debut has propelled its market capitalization to 13.05 trillion rupees ($137.1 billion), making it one of the most valuable companies in India. Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries holds a 64% stake in Jio, further enhancing its dominance in the market.
Analysts anticipate that the funds raised from the IPO will significantly improve Jio's free cash flow by addressing legacy telecom debt and easing the burden of its 5G investment cycle. However, they caution that much of the company's value may already be reflected in its current stock price, which aligns it with major global telecom players like AT&T and Verizon.
With a customer base exceeding half a billion and impressive operating margins, Jio is positioned for future growth, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence and satellite communications.
The listing has also elevated Reliance Group's market value to 30 trillion rupees, surpassing Tata Group's 25 trillion rupees, establishing Ambani's conglomerate as the leading business entity in India
