05/23/2026, 04:31 AM announcement

The earthquake occurred near Honaunau-Napoopoo and was felt across Hawaii, Maui, and Oahu, with a depth of approximately 23 km (14 miles). The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is currently evaluating the situation, particularly regarding Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, which has been erupting since December 23, 2024.

The USGS had previously indicated that the next eruption could happen between May 24 and May 27, based on forecast models. Fortunately, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reported that no tsunami was expected from this earthquake, and there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

As the situation develops, investors should monitor updates, as volcanic activity can significantly impact local economies and tourism
