Warren Buffett Reveals Reasons for Ending Donations to Gates Foundation Amid Controversy

In a nearly one-hour interview with CNBC, Warren Buffett disclosed that he will no longer make annual donations to the Gates Foundation, a decision influenced by his confidence in his children's ability to manage philanthropic efforts. He emphasized that while he finds Bill Gates' past association with Jeffrey Epstein 'distasteful,' it was not the primary reason for his decision.

Over the years, Buffett has donated nearly $48 billion to the Gates Foundation and almost $18 billion to various family foundations. He plans to accelerate his stock donations, aiming to dispose of all his Berkshire shares within about eight years, partly due to his children's aging.

Additionally, Buffett revealed that he initiated Berkshire Hathaway's significant investment in Alphabet, totaling approximately $25 billion over recent quarters, countering assumptions that new CEO Greg Abel was solely responsible. Despite his reservations about tech stocks, Buffett believes Alphabet has strong potential, particularly in AI.

He also expressed ongoing confidence in Apple, Berkshire's largest equity holding, and commented on the financial markets' gambling tendencies. Overall, these revelations may impact investor perceptions of Berkshire Hathaway's strategic direction and Buffett's philanthropic legacy
