Starting next month, holders of Trump Accounts, which are investment accounts for U.S. children under 18, will receive a share of SpaceX stock as a gift from Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX, and her husband. This distribution targets children aged 11 to 17 from families with median incomes of $57,000 or less, as well as those in areas where income data is unavailable.
Notifications will be sent to eligible families soon. Additionally, Shotwell mentioned plans for further donations aimed at military families and children in foster care. The recent regulatory changes by the U.S. Department of the Treasury now allow Trump Accounts to hold individual stocks, which could encourage more significant philanthropic contributions in the future.
Elon Musk has also expressed intentions to gift shares of SpaceX to all American children by 2027, potentially through these accounts. This initiative not only provides financial benefits to children but also reflects a broader movement towards innovative charitable giving in the tech sector
