U.S. Treasury Yields Increase Ahead of Key 10-Year Auction and FOMC Minutes Release

On Wednesday, U.S. Treasury yields rose, with the 10-year Treasury yield climbing 3 basis points to 5.307% and the 30-year bond increasing 4 basis points to 5.69%. The 2-year Treasury note yield also saw a slight uptick, reaching 4.801%. This movement comes as investors await the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting minutes, scheduled for release at 2:00 p.m.

ET, which will provide insights into the Fed's recent decision to raise interest rates for the first time since 2023. The market is currently pricing in a 78% likelihood that the Fed will maintain interest rates at its next meeting.

Additionally, the Treasury is set to auction $39 billion in 10-year notes, which will be a critical test of demand amid ongoing concerns about inflation and rising debt levels. Analysts from BMO noted that the previous day's 3-year auction was well-received, but emphasized that the upcoming 10-year auction will be more significant for determining the direction of U.S. rates.
