Jaguar, owned by Tata Motors, unveiled its all-electric Type 01 model in New York City, positioning it as the 'most technically advanced' and 'most powerful' vehicle in its history. This launch comes two years after a rebranding effort that faced backlash, particularly for an ad campaign that did not showcase any cars.
The Type 01 is priced at £130,000 (approximately $172,000) in the U.K. and around $130,500 in the U.S., significantly higher than previous models. It features a range of up to 450 miles and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds.
This introduction is part of a broader trend among luxury carmakers, including Ferrari and Bentley, who are also entering the electric vehicle market to attract affluent buyers. The launch is particularly important for Jaguar Land Rover as it continues to recover from a cyberattack that disrupted production and follows a recent announcement of 4,000 job cuts aimed at reducing costs
