On Wednesday morning, U.S. Treasury yields showed little movement, with the 10-year note yield at 4.682%, the 2-year note yield at 4.212%, and the 30-year bond yield at 5.231%. Traders are closely monitoring the consumer price index (CPI) data for July, set to be released later in the day, as it will play a critical role in shaping the Federal Reserve's policy direction for its September meeting.

The CPI is expected to show a 0.1% month-over-month increase, with an annual inflation rate of 3.4%. Core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, is projected to rise by 0.2% monthly and 2.5% annually.

Keith Buchanan, a senior portfolio manager at Globalt Investments, emphasized the importance of the CPI data, stating that it could either confirm expectations or prompt a shift in the long end of the Treasury curve.

Additionally, ING strategist Padhraic Garvey noted that while U.S. yields are influenced by external factors like the war and energy prices, the market's inflation discount appears relaxed. The upcoming producer price index (PPI) data, due Thursday, follows a softer-than-expected report last month, adding further context to the current economic landscape
