The latest CNBC All-America Economic Survey reveals a troubling trend for President Trump, whose net approval ratings have sharply declined among crucial voter groups since the start of his second term. Among Latino voters, his approval plummeted from -22 to -38, while approval among 18- to 34-year-olds dropped from -28 to -53.
Black respondents also showed increased disapproval, moving from -55 to -67. Overall, Trump's approval among registered voters fell from -7 to -19. Although he retains a strong approval rating of 82% among Republicans, interest in the upcoming midterm elections is notably lower among Republican voters compared to Democrats.
The survey indicates that 44% of respondents are concerned about Trump exceeding his constitutional powers if Republicans regain control of Congress. Economic disapproval has reached alarming levels, with Trump's net economic approval dropping to -31, the lowest recorded for any president since Barack Obama.
The survey also highlights a growing frustration among voters regarding various issues, including immigration and inflation, particularly among demographics that previously supported Trump.
As the midterms approach, Trump's efforts to energize his base through campaigning in red states may be critical, but the survey suggests that the coalition that propelled him to victory in 2024 is now at risk, complicating the Republican strategy for the upcoming elections
