On Sunday, Saudi Arabia intercepted multiple drones and missiles launched by the Iran-aligned Houthis, targeting cities including the capital, Riyadh. This incident is part of an ongoing conflict that has escalated fears of renewed U.S. military action against Iran, particularly following comments from President Donald Trump suggesting imminent strikes post the November 3 midterm elections.
The Saudi-led coalition reported that two drones and a ballistic missile were destroyed, along with ten ballistic missiles aimed at southern Saudi Arabia. The Houthis claimed responsibility for these attacks, which included targets such as Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport and facilities belonging to Saudi Aramco.
The airport had previously suspended operations due to a deadly strike on October 10. As tensions rise, Brent crude oil prices surged to $116.72 per barrel, marking a 3.1% increase and the highest settlement since April.
This spike reflects investor concerns over potential supply disruptions and geopolitical instability in the region, with analysts indicating that further escalation is likely after the midterms
