Samsung Electronics (005930) Shares Rise Following Announcement of New Robotics Division to Enhance Physical AI Strategy

Samsung Electronics announced the creation of a new robotics division called RX, or Robotics eXperience, aimed at consolidating its robotics capabilities and driving long-term growth through technology development and commercialization. Following this announcement, Samsung's shares increased by 6.76%, outperforming the benchmark Kospi index, which rose about 4%.

CEO TM Roh will directly oversee the new division, emphasizing the company's focus on physical AI. Earlier this month, Roh revealed plans for a significant investment of approximately 60 trillion won ($40.7 billion) in the Yeongnam region, including 19 trillion won allocated for developing physical AI infrastructure and humanoid robot manufacturing in Gumi, in collaboration with Samsung SDS.

Additionally, the new unit aims to establish research bases in the U.S., China, and Japan, further indicating Samsung's commitment to expanding its footprint in the robotics sector
