Analysts expect growth in prediction markets as DraftKings and Flutter Entertainment report quarterly earnings

Recent quarterly earnings from Flutter Entertainment, DraftKings, and others have underscored the rapid expansion of the prediction markets industry. DraftKings reported that its prediction market platform, launched in December 2025, has attracted over 600,000 customers, with expectations of reaching millions during the upcoming NFL season.

The platform's annualized total volume surged to $11 billion, a significant increase from $2.3 billion just a few months prior. CEO Jason Robins noted that DraftKings faces minimal overlap with other prediction markets, indicating a distinct audience primarily composed of betting syndicates and institutional traders.

In contrast, Flutter's shares fell over 11% following disappointing earnings and the announcement of a leadership change. The company is transitioning its FanDuel Predicts platform from CME to Crypto.com to enhance product delivery ahead of the NFL season. Flutter's second quarter earnings also fell short of expectations, with adjusted earnings of 49 cents per share on revenue of $4.33 billion.

Meanwhile, Coinbase reported a 106% quarter-over-quarter growth in prediction markets revenue, but analysts expressed concerns over its overall performance, as it posted a wider-than-expected loss. Robinhood's new exchange, Rothera, has quickly gained market share, trading over 3.5 billion contracts since its launch.

These developments indicate a competitive and evolving landscape in prediction markets, with companies vying for dominance as they adapt to regulatory challenges and consumer demand
