Order to Limit SpaceX’s Starshield for Ukraine Originated from White House, Reports Reveal

According to multiple officials, the order to limit the SpaceX Starshield service, which is crucial for Ukraine's battlefield communications and drone operations, originated from within the White House. This directive has raised concerns as it complicates Ukraine's military capabilities, particularly in executing strike missions against Russian forces.

Ukrainian officials noted that military-grade Starlink receptors had ceased functioning effectively on fast-moving vehicles, which are essential for drone guidance. Although these receptors have reportedly resumed operation at speeds up to 100 miles per hour, the restrictions hinder the performance of interceptor drones designed to counter Russian attacks.

The timing of this limitation coincides with political pressures from former President Donald Trump, who has urged Ukraine to halt its strikes on Russian refineries, linking them to rising energy prices that could affect his party's electoral prospects.

The situation has led to a deterioration in U.S.-Ukraine relations, with Ukrainian officials expressing frustration over the U.S. decision to engage in a diesel deal with Russia, which they view as a sign of weakness.

The Pentagon, a significant customer of Starshield, has invested heavily in these satellite services, and the implications of this order could affect future military support and intelligence sharing between the U.S. and Ukraine
