During his first visit to Kazakhstan, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the country's potential to become a central AI computing hub for Europe, citing its energy resources and plans to expand data center capacity.

Huang's discussions with Kazakhstan's deputy prime minister, Zhaslan Madiyev, underscored the importance of nations developing their own AI capabilities to cater to local languages and cultures.

Kazakhstan has prioritized AI development, declaring 2026 as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, and plans to invest $10 billion in AI infrastructure in partnership with Firebird, aiming to create a computing cluster with 100,000 advanced GPUs, including Nvidia chips.

Additionally, the AI video startup Higgsfield, which has a significant presence in Kazakhstan, recently raised $400 million in funding, further indicating the region's growing importance in the tech sector.

Kazakhstan is also promoting its competitive electricity costs and land availability to attract international data center developers, with projects like Data Center Valley in Ekibastuz already underway.

Other international companies, including Singapore's GK Hyperscale, are also investing in Kazakhstan's digital infrastructure, signaling a broader trend of corporate interest in the region beyond just AI. This strategic positioning could enhance Kazakhstan's role in the global tech landscape, making it an attractive destination for investors looking to capitalize on emerging markets
