Meta Partners with Walmart, Stripe, and Others to Establish Personal Agent Protocol for AI Business Interactions

A month after the launch of Meta's Muse, which has gained significant popularity, a coalition including Meta, Walmart, and Stripe is working on a new open standard for personal AI agents. This initiative, led by Bret Taylor, aims to clarify how these agents can securely access and interact with business information.

Taylor emphasized the need for businesses to differentiate between human users and AI agents to mitigate risks associated with unauthorized access. The protocol is likened to the convenience of logging into websites using Google or Facebook credentials, which would enhance authentication and transparency in AI interactions.

David Singleton from Meta highlighted the importance of security, noting that the new standard would help manage sensitive customer information. Muse has reportedly attracted millions of users in the U.S. and is expanding rapidly, with users finding it useful for various tasks.

While some AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are not currently involved, Taylor expressed hope for their future participation in this open standard initiative
