Federal Judge Orders President Donald Trump to Provide Deposition in $10 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against BBC by December 11

On Thursday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett ordered President Trump to sit for a deposition in his ongoing $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC, with a deadline set for December 11. This ruling comes after Trump's legal team requested a later date for the deposition, citing a 'matter of national importance' for his cancellation of a previously agreed date.

However, BBC attorney Charles Tobin pointed out that Trump was actually campaigning in Georgia on that day, suggesting that he prioritized political activities over legal obligations. The BBC's legal team has accused Trump of delaying the discovery process, claiming that he has not complied with requests for relevant documents and has instead returned previously provided materials.

Trump's lawsuit, filed on December 15, alleges that a BBC documentary misrepresented his actions during the January 6 Capitol riots, claiming it was part of an effort to influence the upcoming election against him. The BBC has expressed regret over the editing of the documentary but maintains that there is no valid basis for the defamation claim
