JetBlue Airways has acquired 12 round-trip flight slots at LaGuardia Airport, which are pending final court and regulatory approvals. This acquisition comes less than three months after Spirit Airlines' bankruptcy, which was the largest airline failure in decades. The slots are particularly valuable due to the limited capacity at LaGuardia, where airspace restrictions hinder airline growth.
JetBlue plans to evaluate its network strategy regarding these slots, with any potential expansion not expected until 2027. The airline is also considering relocating to the Marine Air Terminal, which Spirit operated from until its closure in May.
