Red Bull Racing is leveraging artificial intelligence to improve critical race-day decisions, marking a notable shift in how teams approach strategy in Formula 1. The collaboration with Oracle has led to the development of an AI-powered strategy agent that not only serves as a search tool but also recommends actions during races.

Jack Harington, head of technical and performance partnerships at Oracle Red Bull Racing, explained that the AI can analyze a variety of information sources and has already influenced decisions, such as advising the team to give back a position during the 2025 Italian Grand Prix to avoid penalties.

This decision, while counter to competitive instincts, ultimately benefited the team as Max Verstappen went on to win the race. Harington emphasized that while AI enhances decision-making, human involvement remains crucial, as Formula 1 is fundamentally a human sport.

Other teams, like McLaren and Mercedes-AMG Petronas, are also adopting AI technologies, indicating a broader trend in the sport towards integrating advanced technology for improved performance and fan engagement. Verstappen's recent victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, his first at that event, adds to the team's momentum as they continue to innovate with AI in their racing strategies
