Evercore ISI Predicts SpaceX IPO Could Propel S&P 500 to 9,000, Signaling New Bull Market

Equity strategist Julian Emanuel from Evercore ISI believes that the debut of SpaceX on Friday could catalyze a new phase in the bull market, with a bullish scenario projecting the S&P 500 to rise over 20% from its recent close of 7,431.46 to 9,000. His base case anticipates a more modest increase to 7,750, reflecting a 4% gain.

Emanuel draws parallels between the excitement surrounding SpaceX and the Netscape IPO, which marked the beginning of a tech boom before the dot-com bubble burst. He argues that the current market conditions, including a lack of recession signals and substantial liquidity—$7.9 trillion in money market funds—support the potential for further market growth.

Despite concerns that these IPOs could signal a market peak, Emanuel notes that current IPO activity is relatively restrained compared to historical peaks, suggesting that the market may have more room to grow before reaching a top
