ASML has experienced substantial growth, with its market capitalization increasing to $257.9 billion in 2025, reflecting a 2.6x rise in just 17 months and an annual growth rate of 30.1% from June 2020 to June 2026. The company is crucial in the semiconductor industry, producing advanced machines for chip manufacturing, serving major clients like Samsung, Intel, and TSMC.

PitchBook's analysis indicates that while ASML is the leading candidate for reaching a $1 trillion valuation, the broader European market faces hurdles such as fragmented capital markets and a regulatory environment that hampers growth. Currently, only four European companies have revenues exceeding $100 billion, compared to 14 in the global top 20.

Other contenders like Arm, a U.K.-based chip designer listed on Nasdaq, could also emerge as significant players. The report emphasizes that while ASML may lead the way, Europe must cultivate multiple candidates capable of achieving trillion-dollar valuations, with scale being a critical factor for success
