Elon Musk has reportedly invested approximately $1 billion in Skydance, a move that comes as the company seeks to cut costs while managing a debt load nearing $80 billion. This investment follows Paramount's recent acquisition of Warner Bros.
Discovery, which has led to the formation of Skydance, now tasked with merging two major film studios and their associated streaming platforms, Paramount+ and HBO Max. Skydance anticipates achieving $6 billion in cost savings over the next three years, highlighting the urgency of financial restructuring. Following the announcement, Skydance's shares fell by about 1%.
Notably, Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and father of Skydance co-CEO David Ellison, has a history of investing in Musk's ventures, including a $1 billion stake in Musk's Twitter acquisition and previous investments in Tesla. This connection may indicate a strategic alignment between Musk and Skydance's leadership as they navigate the challenges of the entertainment industry
