Elon Musk Accuses Indian Telecom Oligarchs of Blocking Starlink Launch to Protect Market Dominance

Elon Musk's recent comments suggest that he believes vested interests in India are preventing the rollout of Starlink, which he argues would provide affordable high-speed internet to underserved populations. Musk did not specify the companies involved but implied that Jio and Airtel, which control over 80% of the market, are responsible for this blockage.

Jio, owned by Mukesh Ambani, has significantly reduced mobile data costs since its inception, and is now planning to launch its own satellite communications service. Meanwhile, SpaceX has previously announced partnerships with both Jio and Airtel to introduce Starlink in India, but progress appears stalled.

Additionally, regulatory hurdles related to security concerns have further complicated Starlink's entry into the Indian market. With 11,000 satellites already in orbit, SpaceX aims to bridge the digital divide globally, but its ambitions in India are currently hindered by both market competition and regulatory challenges
