Samsung Electronics forecasts record third-quarter profit of $80.2 billion driven by AI demand

Samsung Electronics reported a preliminary operating profit of 107.40 trillion won for the third quarter, marking a remarkable 782% increase from the previous year and surpassing the 100 trillion won milestone for the first time. The company's revenue reached approximately 195 trillion won, reflecting a nearly 127% year-over-year growth.

As the world's largest memory chipmaker, Samsung has capitalized on the rising demand for memory components essential for AI infrastructure. In the previous quarter, Samsung had already set records with an operating profit of 89.5 trillion won and revenue of 171.5 trillion won, primarily driven by its memory business.

The company is also actively investing in AI, exemplified by its recent partnership with French startup Mistral AI to integrate AI models into its semiconductor operations. Full earnings details, including a breakdown by business division, are expected to be released later this month
