According to Deutsche Bank, gold has experienced an 'explosive' price increase over the past two years, with a notable doubling in price since August 2024. Although the metal has faced challenges in the last six months, including a decline from its peak of $5,589.38 per ounce in January 2026 due to geopolitical tensions and rising interest rates, it is currently trading around $4,031.45 per ounce.
Deutsche Bank's analysts have expressed a bullish outlook, suggesting that gold's fair value could reach approximately $4,700 per ounce by year-end, which is an upward revision from their previous forecast.
They caution, however, that the gold market may be entering bubble territory, as indicated by a warning from the Bank of International Settlements, and that potential interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve could pressure gold prices down to as low as $3,800 per ounce. This dynamic highlights the ongoing tension between inflation concerns and the attractiveness of yielding assets like bonds
