On Friday, Democratic senators called for transparency regarding over a dozen federal deals related to critical minerals that could financially benefit President Donald Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

These deals involve at least 14 companies with ties to the Trump or Lutnick families, and the Trump administration has either provided or is considering providing more than $8.9 billion in funding to these firms.

Senators Richard Blumenthal, Adam Schiff, and Elizabeth Warren emphasized the importance of ensuring that federal investments are made without conflicts of interest, expressing concern that the administration's decision-making may not prioritize national security and economic interests. They requested that various federal departments preserve all records related to these transactions.

Additionally, the senators raised ethical concerns regarding the Pentagon's selection of Vulcan Elements for a $620 million loan, which was linked to Donald Trump Jr.'s financial firm, 1789 Capital. The White House defended its actions, stating that the administration's decisions are guided by the best interests of the American people.

The companies involved include USA Rare Earth, Kaz Resources, and Vulcan Elements, among others
