During an interview on CNBC, Anthony Gutman highlighted the challenges posed by increasing government bond yields, particularly in the U.S. and France. He pointed out that despite a weaker-than-expected nonfarm payrolls report, U.S. Treasury yields have continued to rise, with the 10-year note yield at 5.2581%.

Gutman attributed the rising yields to high energy costs and labor market issues, advocating for lower fiscal deficits and more sustainable economic growth as solutions. He also noted that the political climate in Europe, particularly with Spain's upcoming snap election, adds to the uncertainty for businesses.

Gutman expressed hope that a combination of reduced government spending and enhanced economic growth could stabilize the situation, but acknowledged the trade-offs that governments face in addressing these fiscal challenges
