Jim Cramer Reviews August’s Stock Comeback Driven by Improving Fundamentals

Jim Cramer highlighted that August was a turnaround month for several stocks in the S&P 500 that had been under pressure due to concerns about artificial intelligence and slowing growth. Moderna led the index with a strong performance following promising results for its melanoma vaccine, which helped alleviate skepticism about its mRNA technology.

Other significant rebounds were seen in enterprise software companies such as Palantir, Salesforce, and ServiceNow, which had faced declines due to fears about the sustainability of software in the AI era. Cramer noted that these fears were exacerbated by the actions of the Situational Awareness hedge fund, which had to unwind its short positions in late July.

The recovery in software stocks was described as 'breathtaking,' with companies like Gartner also rebounding after initial concerns about AI's impact on their business proved unfounded. Additionally, Newmont benefited from a recovery in gold prices, while Super Micro Computer and Sandisk surged due to increased demand for AI-related memory.

Coinbase also performed well as cryptocurrencies rebounded, driven by concerns over government spending and rising U.S. debt, making it a popular choice for investors looking for crypto exposure
