Imax has seen its stock price soar nearly 6% following the impressive box office performance of 'The Odyssey,' which has generated $221 million globally, accounting for nearly 25% of the film's total earnings.

CEO Rich Gelfond highlighted that the company's success is not solely due to box office receipts but also a result of operational improvements, including increased theater openings and higher cash flow. The film's popularity has led to extended screenings, particularly in the coveted 70 mm format, which are selling out quickly.

Gelfond noted a significant uptick in tourism linked to the film's release, indicating its status as a luxury brand experience. The stock has risen 37% year-to-date and is on track for its fourth consecutive annual gain, with shares expected to close above $50 for the first time.

Despite earlier concerns regarding competition from upcoming releases, the success of 'The Odyssey' has alleviated fears about meeting annual guidance. Gelfond remains open to potential acquisition offers, stating the company is performing exceptionally well.

Looking ahead, Imax plans to capitalize on its current momentum with upcoming releases, including 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and several other high-profile films
