Adani Enterprises announced a significant fundraising initiative through its airport unit, securing approximately 98.25 billion rupees ($1 billion) from a consortium of investors including Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek, and BlackRock managed funds. This investment values Adani Airport Holdings at around $18 billion on a pre-money basis.

The agreement will see the investors acquire about 5.54% of the airport operator through a subscription to new shares in three phases, with the final tranche anticipated to be completed by July 2027, pending regulatory approvals.

This fundraising follows a previous 150 billion rupee qualified institutional placement in July and is viewed as a crucial step in enhancing Adani's airport infrastructure and expanding its operations.

Jeet Adani, non-executive director at Adani Airport Holdings, emphasized the importance of this milestone for the company's airport platform, while CEO Arun Bansal highlighted the growth potential in India, driven by increasing consumer spending and city-side development projects.

The funds raised will facilitate the modernization of airport infrastructure, accelerate the development of Adani Airport City projects, and enhance non-aeronautical services, ultimately aiming to increase capacity to serve around 200 million passengers annually. Adani Airport Holdings currently manages eight airports in India, contributing to over 23% of the nation's passenger traffic
