U.S. Judge Temporarily Blocks Trump’s $1.8 Billion Anti-Weaponization Fund Amid Legal Challenges

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema issued a temporary order blocking the Trump administration from proceeding with the creation of an 'Anti-Weaponization Fund' while she reviews legal arguments surrounding its establishment.

The fund, announced by the Justice Department as part of a settlement related to Trump's tax records, aims to provide compensation to individuals claiming to be victims of politically motivated legal actions. The lawsuit challenging the fund was brought by a group asserting that they were targeted as political opponents and would be excluded from receiving payouts.

Skye Perryman, head of Democracy Forward, which filed the lawsuit, hailed the ruling as a victory for transparency and the rule of law. The Justice Department, however, expressed confidence in the fund's legality and indicated that it would proceed with its plans to allocate funds within 60 days.
