During a recent state visit, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced a substantial investment in Germany, which includes approximately 1 gigawatt of new data-center capacity and a significant allocation of €10 billion for Bavaria, a key industrial region.

This investment is part of a broader strategy for the UAE to diversify its economy beyond oil and enhance its global influence, particularly in Europe. The collaboration also extends to artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and energy, alongside plans for increased defense cooperation.

Paul Musgrave, an associate professor at Georgetown University, highlighted that this investment could provide a much-needed boost for Germany's economy, which is currently facing challenges.

The UAE's Minister of Foreign Trade, Thani Al Zeyoudi, emphasized the country's commitment to connecting its economy with global hubs, further solidifying its role as a key trading partner for Germany, where bilateral non-oil trade reached $15.5 billion in 2025.

This investment builds on the UAE's previous €34 billion investments in Germany, underscoring the deepening economic relationship between the two countries
