Traders on Kalshi Predict 2-in-3 Chance for S&P 500 to Reach 8,000 by 2026

The S&P 500's recent four-day rally, which ended on Wednesday, has shifted traders' expectations on Kalshi regarding the index's future performance. Currently, there is a 66% probability that the S&P 500 will exceed 8,000 by 2026, with the index only 3.6% away from that milestone as of the latest close.

This optimism follows a strong earnings season and easing geopolitical tensions, particularly between the U.S. and Iran. Despite a slowdown in late June and July, analysts believe the market is undergoing a healthy reset rather than a downturn, with expectations for continued growth.

Keith Lerner, chief market strategist at Truist Wealth, emphasized that earnings remain a key indicator of market strength, with estimates trending upwards and economic growth showing resilience. Additionally, traders are now assigning a 33% chance for the S&P 500 to reach 8,200 this year, indicating a growing confidence in the market's upward trajectory
