Samsung Electronics announced a $1 billion investment in Helix Digital Infrastructure, a company backed by KKR and Nvidia, with Samsung contributing $500 million and its affiliates covering the rest. This strategic investment aims to bolster Helix's efforts in the competitive AI infrastructure sector, which includes data center deployment and essential power infrastructure.
Helix, which was launched in June, is focused on meeting the increasing demand for AI by developing hyperscale data centers and related power and fiber-optic networks. The investment allows Samsung to integrate its diverse capabilities in semiconductors, cooling systems, data center construction, and batteries, thereby enhancing its role in the global AI infrastructure landscape.
Helix has already secured over $10 billion in funding, and this latest investment is expected to accelerate the deployment of AI data centers and foster collaboration among the involved companies. KKR, a significant player in digital infrastructure investments, has committed over $75 billion globally, including $9 billion in Korea since 2009
