In early trading on Thursday, shares of Samsung Electronics fell over 7%, while SK Hynix dropped more than 9%, contributing to a decline in South Korea's benchmark Kospi index. This downturn follows a sharp selloff in the tech sector, particularly in the Nasdaq Composite, where major chip manufacturers like Micron Technology and Sandisk also saw substantial losses.

Despite a remarkable 260% gain for Micron year-to-date, its shares plummeted over 10% in the latest session. The decline in SK Hynix also affected its largest shareholder, SK Square, which fell more than 10%. The overall trend indicates a growing concern among investors regarding the semiconductor industry's performance amid a challenging market environment
