Russia Launches Missile Strikes on Kyiv’s Energy Infrastructure, Damaging Key Bridge

Russian military actions have intensified, targeting energy facilities around Kyiv, which has led to significant disruptions in electricity, water, and heating supplies as temperatures drop.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the Northern Bridge across the Dnipro River was among the structures hit, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that only four of the 36 ballistic missiles launched were intercepted. The strikes resulted in at least two fatalities and numerous injuries, alongside damage to residential and commercial properties.

In response, Ukraine has also conducted drone and missile attacks on Russian regions, although these caused minimal damage. The timing of these attacks is critical, occurring just before trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi involving both Ukrainian and Russian officials, aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict.

The situation is further complicated by recent U.S. midterm elections, which have raised expectations for increased American support for Ukraine against Russian aggression. Zelenskyy emphasized the need for continued U.S. attention as Russia escalates its military operations
