Rivian Automotive reported a significant year-over-year increase in vehicle deliveries, with 19,248 units delivered in the third quarter, surpassing Wall Street's expectations of 18,000 units. This marks a 46% increase from the 13,201 units delivered in the same period last year.
The company has reaffirmed its 2026 delivery guidance of between 65,000 and 70,000 vehicles, which it had previously raised earlier this year. To meet this target, Rivian would need to increase its deliveries by at least 20.5% in the fourth quarter, reaching 23,193 vehicles.
This growth is attributed to the ramp-up in production of the new Rivian R2 SUV, which is positioned as a more affordable option compared to the flagship R1 SUV. The positive delivery numbers and reaffirmed guidance are likely to bolster investor confidence in Rivian's ability to scale its operations and meet future demand
